Another lovely example of your trademark style. It's interesting that you began this during a Jean Haines workshop, as it is so different to the techniques she currently uses.

Thanks so much Mick.
It's interesting that you mention I have a style as I myself cannot recognize it in my work as of yet. I think one of the things I came out of the workshop with most is being more comfortable and confident with painting without a preliminary pencil sketch. Jean did make some great suggestions to me as I was working on this one, however I ended up keeping it going in the same direction I started it with. I will be doing another painting incorporating her suggestions on this. We'll see how it goes:)

sophia the façade is beautiful with the retained whites and your eye for the detail ...look forward to seeing your next painting .

Thanks so much Jane,

It was definitely a challenge knowing when to leave more or less white, so I am glad you noticed that:) I did a quick study for my next painting and was relatively pleased with the results, so I will definitely be going ahead with doing another.

I've really enjoyed seeing your latest watercolors, Sophia. I love your palette, the patterns, how you focus on certain parts of a composition. The painting in your 'Enjoying Venice II' entry, with the emphasis on the water - which is such a major element of Venice - is just wonderful...

Thanks so much Lisa. I think in my more recent paintings, I am beginning to be a bit looser in my technique so that is something I am looking forward to developing more. I will definitely be doing more on Venice. Thanks for stopping by.
